Bute (Phenylbutazone)


Product Description: This is an anti-inflammatory and general pain reliever.

Indications for Use: Use in situations where pain relief or fever reduction is needed (infection, muscle damage, arthritis, and joint pain).

Dosage and Administration:

The use of phenylbutazone in lactating dairy cattle (females 20 months and older) is prohibited by law.

Adult cattle: 2-4 tablets, orally, once or twice a day.

Calves: 1-2 tablets once or twice a day.

Duration of Treatment: Continue treatment for as long as symptoms persist, but do not exceed 3 days of total treatment. (See precautions.)

Packaging: This product comes in containers of 100 and 1000 tablets.

Precautions and Side Effects: Bute can cause stomach and intestinal irritation and ulceration. Be cautious regarding duration of treatment and doses. If signs of abdominal pain occur, or if there is blood or dark, tar-like material in the manure, discontinue bute and all anti-inflammatory agents immediately.

Consider antiulcer treatment such as Polyox or Magnalax if necessary.

Storage: Store in a cool, dry place between 46-59°F or refrigerate.

Milk Withholding: Use prohibited by law.

Meat Withholding: Not approved and not established.
