Aspirin (Acetylsalicylic acid)


Product Description: This is an anti-inflammatory and general pain reliever.

Indications for Use: Aspirin can be used in situations where pain relief or fever reduction is needed (infection, muscle damage, arthritis, and joint pain).

Dosage and Administration:

Adult horses: Give 2-4 (240 grain) boluses orally, once to twice a day.

Foals: Give 1-2 boluses orally, once to twice a day.

Duration of Treatment: Continue the treatment for as long as symptoms persist, but do not exceed 3 days of total treatment (see precautions).

Packaging:  This product comes in containers of 50, 240 grain boluses.

Precautions and Side Effects: Aspirin can cause stomach and intestinal irritation and ulceration. Be cautious regarding duration of treatment and doses. If signs of abdominal pain, blood, or dark, tar-like material in the manure occur, discontinue aspirin and all anti-inflammatory drugs immediately. Consider anti-ulcer treatment (sucralfate, etc.) if the above signs exist.

Storage and Shelf Life: Store in a cool dry place.
