Product Description: This is a nutritional supplement for foals that has a guaranteed analysis as follows:

Crude protein > 22%
Crude Fat > 15.0%
Crude Fiber < 0.15%

Indications for Use: This product is recommended for use in situations where the foal is orphaned or when the mother has an inadequate milk supply. When the mother is sick or will not allow the foal to nurse, use of this product may be warranted.

Dosage and Administration: Using the cup that is provided, mix one level scoop (1/4 lb.) of Equilac with one pint of warm water (125°F). The powder should be mixed slowly into the water, and fed while still warm. The table on the package gives the dose that should be fed according to age.

Additional suggestions:

  1. Because of the foal potentially sucking (aspirating) the milk into the lungs, caution should be used during the feeding process. Milk should never be poured or forced into the foal’s mouth. It is best to let the foal drink the milk from a bucket or container that is held on or close to the ground.
  2. Never use any milk that is left over from a previous feeding.
  3. Always clean and sterilize any buckets or equipment between feedings.
