Product Description: This drug is a naturally occurring hormone, prostaglandin (PGF
2a).Indications for Use: This product can be used for mares that are not cycling, estrus synchronization, and inducing abortion. To produce the desired response, there must be a corpus luteum (CL) present. In most cases, mares given Lutalyse at least 5 days after ovulation will return to estrus within 2 to 4 days, and ovulate 8 to 12 days later.
Dosage and Administration: Give 1 mL, IM, for adult animals or .5 mg per 100 lbs.
Packaging: This drug comes in 10 and 30 mL bottles.
Precautions and Side Effects: Do not give to pregnant animals unless abortion is desired. Mild injection site swelling has been observed. Horses often show signs of mild colic.
* Contact with this product can cause severe problems in pregnant women and people with asthma. Therefore, if Lutalyse is spilled on the skin, it should be washed off immediately.
Storage and Shelf Life: This product can be stored at room temperature.
Meat Withholding: Not for use in horses intended for food.
