Product Description:
This product contains synthetic or naturally occurring oxytocin. Oxytocin is a hormone that is normally produced by the pituitary gland.Indications for Use: This product, which can be administered to a mare after giving birth, can help contract the uterus. Oxytocin is also beneficial when retained placentas, uterine inertia, and uterine infections are a problem.
Dosage and Administration: For uterus contraction and to aid in labor, a dose of 5 mL IM, IV, or SQ is recommended.
Packaging: This product comes in 100 mL bottles, in a 20 Units/mL concentration.
Precautions and Side Effects: Caution should be used when this product is given to induce or speed-up labor. Veterinary advice should always be sought prior to this decision. For some situations, oxytocin may be extremely harmful during foaling.
Storage and Shelf Life: Depending on the manufacturer of this product, refrigeration may be required. Protect from freezing.
