This is an anti-coccidia
agent that comes in a powder, crumble, or oral solution.
Indications for Use: Corid is effective against coccidia (coccidiosis)
infections.
Not approved for use in sheep and goats. Refer to extra-label drug use.
Dosage and Administration:
- Crumbles:
Prevention: It is recommended that a daily dose of 5 mg/kg of body weight
(1/10th of a pound of crumbles per every 250 lbs.) be given for 21
consecutive days.
Treatment: Give 10 mg/kg (basically double the prevention dose) for 5 days.
- Oral solution:
Prevention: Give 5 mg/kg of body weight (mix 8 oz. of solution in 100
gallons of drinking water) for 21 days.
Treatment: Give 10 mg/kg (basically double the prevention dose) for 5 days.
- Powder:
Prevention: Give 5 mg/kg of body weight (add 1½ oz. of 20% soluble powder
to 1 quart water and administer as a drench at a rate of 1 oz. per every 100
lbs.) for 21 days.
Treatment: Give 10 mg/kg (basically double the prevention dose) for 5 days.
Some veterinarians recommend giving 5 times the above recommended treatment
doses (40-50 mg/kg) in an extra label manner.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place
Milk Withholding: Not established
Meat Withholding: Not established for sheep and goats. 24 hours for cattle.
