Product Description:
This is a chewable tablet that contains milbemycin oxime. This product is used for the prevention of heartworm disease caused by Dirofilaria immitis. The tablets also control hookworms (Anclyostoma caninum), and remove and control roundworms (Toxocara canis) and whipworms (Trichuris vulpis). Each colored box contains tablets that have very different amounts of milbemycin oxime.Dosage and Administration:
For dogs weighing 2-10 lbs., one 2.3 mg tablet from a brown box should be given. Dogs weighing 11-25 lbs. should receive one 5.75 mg tablet from a green box. Dogs that weigh 26-50 lbs. should receive one 11.5 mg tablet from a yellow box, and dogs weighing 51-100 lbs. should receive one 23 mg tablet from a white box. Dogs weighing over 100 lbs. should receive the appropriate combination of the above. All animals should receive their tablet(s) once a month at approximately the same time every month. Only animals over 4 weeks of age and at least two pounds in weight should receive the product. It has proven safe in over 75 different breeds of dogs, including collies, pregnant females, and breeding animals.Any animal that has missed the proper monthly dosing or has gone off the product for greater than one month should be retested prior to receiving additional tablets (see precautions below).
Precautions and Side Effects:
All adult animals should be blood tested before any preventative measures are taken. Placing an infected dog on any type of heartworm prevention may result in the death of that animal. Signs such as labored breathing, vomiting, diarrhea, weakness, not eating (anorexia), convulsions, ataxia, salivation, and lethargy may occur after treatment of some dogs, particularly those carrying a high number of circulating microfilariae.Packaging:
