Amoxi-Drop®/Amoxi-Tab®
(Amoxicillin)


Product Description: This antibiotic, containing amoxicillin, is effective against Staphylococcus aureus, Streptococcus spp., and E. coli bacterial infections.

Indications for Use: Amoxicillin is for use in bacterial infections of the skin, lungs, intestinal tract, and tissues, including wounds and abscesses. This product can also be used to treat some bladder infections.

Dosage and Administration: A dose of 5-10 mg per lb. of body weight, once a day, is recommended. This means that 1-2 mL of the liquid per 10 lbs. of body weight should be given every 24 hours. If administering the tablets, 5-10 mg should be given per 10 lbs. of body weight. The tablets should also be given once every 24 hours. This dose can be given for 5-7 days or until 2 days after all signs are gone.

Precautions and Side Effects: Allergic reactions are a possibility. See page E200 for additional information on allergic reactions. Occasionally, some animals experience mild diarrhea and/or vomiting. If this occurs, stop the administration of amoxicillin and contact a veterinarian.

Packaging: This product comes in a powder that must be reconstituted with water. The liquid form, when reconstituted with the recommended amount of water, contains 50 mg per mL. It also comes in tablet form in 50, 100, 150, 200, and 400 mg strengths.

Storage and Shelf Life: Refrigeration is generally recommended, but not required for the reconstituted liquid. Any unused liquid amoxicillin should be discarded after 14 days. The tablets can be stored at a controlled room temperature.
