Product Description:
This drug is a steroid (glucocorticoid) and anti-inflammatory stronger than prednisone.Indications for Use: Use when there is sever inflammation or pain from a variety of reasons (sprains, muscle damage, or tendonitis, etc.).
Dosage and Administration: Give 1-2 mL per 100 lbs., IM or IV, once a day.
Duration of Treatment: Treat as long as symptoms persist, but do not exceed 4-5 days. (See precautions.)
Packaging: This product comes in 100 mL bottle, in a 2mg/mL concentration.
Precautions and Side Effects: Because all steroids cause suppression of
the immune system, they should not be used in general bacterial or viral
infections. They should be reserved for only the most severe bacterial
infections where the life of the animal is in jeopardy and shock treatment is
necessary. Steroids can also cause
intestinal, stomach, and kidney damage. If bloody manure or urine is noted,
discontinue use and consider anti-ulcer treatment. Do not use in conjunction
with other steroids or other products like aspirin or Banamine.
*Dexamethasone, in high doses, has been shown to cause laminitis.
*This drug can cause abortions in pregnant animals.
Storage and Shelf Life: Refrigeration is not required.
